Running BricsCAD Shape

BricsCAD Shape is a powerful, free 3D modelling application that's included with your BricsCAD installation, and is available to use with or without a license. BricsCAD Shape provides access to many of the 3D modelling tools normally restricted to BricsCAD BIM.

The default way to run BricsCAD Shape is by selecting the option from the BricsCAD start-up (GETSTARTED) screen.

Launching BricsCAD Shape

If you're running a network license or have turned the start-up screen off, then you may find it difficult to access BricsCAD Shape. Have no fear! It's possible to create a shortcut on your Windows desktop to launch BricsCAD Shape. To do this:

  1. Make a copy of your existing BricsCAD shortcut.
  2. Right click on the copied shortcut and select 'Properties'.
  3. Add /SHAPE at the end of the 'Target' field.
  4. Click 'Ok'.
  5. Launch BricsCAD Shape using this shortcut.

BricsCAD Shape only allows access to model space. It has limited printing options, and minimal annotation options. It does allow you to open/import sketchup files (as does BricsCAD Pro and above) and convert it to .dwg. As Shape uses the .dwg file format, you will be able to edit anything you've created with it in any of the licensed levels of BricsCAD.
