BricsCAD Setup Support
For most users, running BricsCAD in its default out of the box state is not efficient and can be challenging for new users.
A lot of users may know how to use AutoCAD/BricsCAD, but aren’t familiar with getting it setup, don’t have the time to do it themselves, or are looking for something specific. This challenge compounds as the number of users in your organisation grows, with each of them spending time repeatedly solving the same problems.
If you are looking to rationalise your BricsCAD setup to better meet user requirements or migrating to BricsCAD from another CAD application, then we can help. We have many years of experience in setting up BricsCAD.
To get an idea of what we can do for you we’ve created a sample BricsCAD setup that you can download and try out for free.
Our BricsCAD Setup Method,a Framework Based Approach
We use a framework-based approach to delivering you a comprehensive and cohesive BricsCAD setup. This framework incorporates features, such as Templates, Symbol libraries, Text styles, Dimension styles, Drawing scales and PDF printing to scale. These features act as place holders to swap out with your own options. Alternatively, in the case that you don’t have your own options, then they are available to use directly or as a conversation starter on defining your own.
Our BricsCAD framework is delivered in an easy-to-use form, allowing the user to easily setup for themselves on their own machine. The framework also includes options for IT administrators to setup users in bulk.
The Process

The typical process we follow to complete this work is:
- Data Gathering (Input):
- The Client provides us with copies of files related (see what we need from you) to their current CAD setup if available. If this isn’t available, then we can just as easily work with example drawing files, PDF prints, and hand mark-ups.
- We re-work these files to provide an initial setup for BricsCAD. The aim here is to provide the client with something familiar to begin to explore the BricsCAD environment from. As much as possible, we would carry across the tools they have been familiar with using on their previous platform.
- Initial Rollout: Client works with the initial setup for a time to get familiarity. During this time, we can be available to address any critical questions or issues. As part of the rollout, we can meet with IT admin and the CAD manager to go through the library setup and methods to implement. This is also an opportune time to undertake training with staff if needed.
- Get feedback from the team: This can be run in the form of a BricsCAD FAQ session allowing staff to get answers to general BricsCAD queries as well on the initial setup.
- Updated Rollout: We revise the BricsCAD setup based on feedback and any additional requirements requested.
Following this we can repeat steps 3 to 4 to further refine and enhance your setup. This often comes as users gain more familiarity with the system and their requirements.
What you receive
Key deliverables are:
- A customised BricsCAD setup tailored to your requirements that can be easily implemented across all users.
- Remote support to staff related to the setup over the course of engagement.
Requirements
To develop your custom BricsCAD setup, it is useful to get as much detail from you as we can around your existing CAD setup. Typically, we are looking for the following items:
- Sample Drawing (s). These can be in .dwg or pdf format. These are useful to provide additional background on the type of work your company engages in. If you provide .dwg files, then we can often extract data from these to assist in building your BricsCAD setup.
- LISP, VBA & script files.
- Menus.
- Sheetsets.
- Drawing Templates.
- Title block(s).
- Block library.
- Tool Palettes.
- Linetypes (.lin & .shx).
- Plot style definitions (.ctb / .stb)
Timeframe
We typically undertake this work over a six to twelve week period. Actual time frame is subject to our availability, that of the client, and the work involved.
Cost
We undertake this type of work on a rates basis, based around our standard charge out rate of $250/hr. The time required varies depending on client requirements but for budgeting purposes we recommend allowing for 40 hours of time as a minimum.
We can develop an estimate based around your specific requirements on request.
